Breathe in the clean air as you quietly tour the island on an electrically powered Motu Bike. These bikes are charged from the sun by solar panels located at Motu Bikes base in Claris. They run silently, perfect for ease of communication as your local guide entertains you with tales of history, geography, our forests and life on the land at every turn.
Beginning your adventure with Star Treks at Motu Bikes hub in central Claris, your guide will ride with you to some of our best locations, on and off the beaten path. Stay on the bike, or take some short walks in between, our guides are familiar with every available walking track and each of the 55+ roadside view shafts on the island.
Base options for half day tours include, but are not limited to:
- Awana falls: ride, 2 hour return walk, swim or waterfall jump (if keen!) return ride.
Harataonga Beach: ride (some gravel), beach walk, return ride. - Whangaparapara: ride (gravel road), historic bush walk, return ride
- Windy Canyon: ride, 45 min return bush walk to awesome ridge view point, return ride.
- Tryphena Art Trail: ride, visit Black Cow Gallery in Schooner Bay (little gravel) and Shoal Bay Pottery near the Tryphena wharf, return ride.
Bike hire is by the hour, or a full 24 hour hire to enjoy some solo exploration after your Star Treks Tour. Choose from a half day or full day guided tour. Our spectacular bush, beaches, roadside vistas are just a short but exhilarating ride away.
